$1000 Cash Award for Women Attending School while Supporting a Family!
The El Dorado Soroptimist club invites women to apply for its annual Live Your Dream Award (LYDA).
- These awards assist women seeking to better support themselves and their families by gaining additional skills, training or education.
- Award applicants must be women who are the primary financial support for a household, have at least one dependent (child, parent, spouse, etc.), and are enrolled in or have been accepted to a college program or vocational/skills training program.
- Preference is given to applicants living or attending school in El Dorado.
At least one recipient will receive a cash award of $1000. Recipients can use award money for costs related to attaining additional education or training to improve their earning power. That includes tuition, books, child care, groceries, and transportation.
- The club’s first place recipient will advance to the Soroptimist South Central Region to compete for additional cash awards. Award recipients from Soroptimist International’s 28 geographic regions are then eligible for one of four $14,000 finalist awards.
The deadline to submit an application is November 15, 2016. Applications and more information are available from club members, including the LYDA committee listed below, and also online at www.soroptimist.org.
