Soroptimist El Dorado met December 5 with 20 club members present. The meeting was preceded by our Holiday Party. Club members brought beautifully wrapped gifts for families adopted through The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.
President Gail Gomez called the meeting to order. Julia Davis was installed as a new member. Julia was presented with a Soroptimist pin, blue candle, and yellow rose.
November minutes were approved. Bebee Thomas presented the Treasurer’s report.
For the Director’s Minute Judie Storandt presented information about the Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women. Each fall we accept applications from women who provide the primary financial support for their families, and are seeking to improve their employment prospects through education.
Brenda Burk reported receiving several good applications for this year’s Live Your Dream Award. The award committee recommended giving awards to two applicants, which was approved.
Sue Reynolds noted the next work day at the Safehouse Clothes Closet is January 5. Bernie Spradling thanked club members who volunteered to ring Salvation Army bells, and those who helped assemble Christmas packages for residents of local nursing homes.
Kelli Scott and Bonnie Foose said the next Best for Women Fair will be next fall.
Janett Doile reminded members school supplies will be collected at our January meeting for USD 490.
Hostesses were Bonnie Buckman, Sue Beattie and Gail Gomez.
