Soroptimist El Dorado’s monthly meeting on June 4 was a dinner meeting at Cardinal Creek Farm in Leon. Nineteen members and three guests enjoyed a delicious meal accompanied by chirping birds and tallgrass prairie swaying in the cool evening breeze before President Gail Gomez called the meeting to order.
Trisha Powell was inducted as a new member.
May minutes were approved. Bebee Thomas presented the Treasurer’s report. Thank you notes from USD 490 counselors and the Priscilla’s Pet Pantry for donations from our club were received.
Year-end committee reports included: Gail Gomez, President’s Report; Darla Deaton, Ways & Means; Judie Storandt, Orientation and Leadership, Janett Doile, Meeting Planning and Programs of Service, Nancy Reddinger, Recruitment & Retention; Joni Sanders, Public Relations and Women’s Issues. Ginger Glenn, Social Activities and Bernie Spradling, Laws & Regulations.
Janett Doile announced a summer planning meeting will be held in July or August.
Installation of club officers for 2018-2019 included: President, Janett Doile; Vice-President, Joni Sanders; Secretary, Sue Beattie; Treasurer, Edith Waugh; Delegates, Nancy Reddinger and Sharon Mangels; Bebee Thomas, Alternative Delegate; 1st Director, Julia Davis, 2nd Director, Susan Adams; and 3rd Director, Darla Deaton. The new club year begins July 1.
Certificates of Membership in Soroptimist El Dorado were presented to Bernie Spradling and Sharon Mangels for 15 years, Gail Gomez, 10 years, and Edith Waugh and Judie Storandt, 5 years.
Members attending not mentioned were Susan Adams, Bonnie Buckman, Brenda Burk, Marsha Greene, and Velma Larimer. Guests included Diane Grove, Dee Marshall, and Cathy Roedel. The meeting was adjourned with the Soroptimist Pledge.
