Soroptimist International El Dorado met November 5. After time for socializing/networking, President Janett Doile presided over the business meeting.
Members reported on accomplishments since last month’s meeting.
Janett Doile, Edith Waugh and Sharon Mangles presented a $750 check to the El Dorado Middle School. The funds are available for district school counselors to meet student needs.
Anti-dating violence bookmarks were delivered to EHS and EMS for distribution.
14 Domestic Violence Awareness banners were displayed at various locations in the community.
Our club served refreshments to SBA Memorial Hospital employees attending its annual Mammogram Party.
Bernie Spradling reported on The Salvation Army holiday events. Club members signed up to serve as bell ringers, and to assemble and deliver ‘goodie bags’ to local nursing homes. We will adopt two families for Christmas. Our club also will again serve at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 17.
Ginger Glenn invited members to attend the EHS dress rehearsal of “Bye Bye Birdie”.
Our Holiday Party will be a catered dinner on December 3.
Non-perishable items were collected to benefit the food pantry operated by The First Christian Church, El Dorado.
Darla Deaton, Gail Gomez and Nancy Reddinger were thanked for providing light snacks and drinks. Members attending not mentioned were Susan Adams, Sue Beattie, Bonnie Buckman, Brenda Burk, Marcia Greene, Debi La Forge, Dee Marshall, Nancy Samp, Judie Storandt and Bebee Thomas. The meeting was adjourned with the Soroptimist Pledge.
