Soroptimist El Dorado met January 7, 2019. President Janett Doile called the meeting to order after a light supper during a social time.
Brenda Burk introduced guest Angela Walter, our 2018 Live Your Dream Award winner. Angela is pursuing a nursing career at BCC. President Janett Doile, Brenda Burk, and Debi LaForge congratulated Angela and presented her award.
Bebee Thomas noted our annual Potato Bar Supper Fundraiser is scheduled for Monday, March 4 in El Dorado. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any club member. Proceeds are used to support club awards and programs for girls and women in our community. Members will contact local businesses about purchasing tickets for their employees, or making a donation.
Sharon Mangels and Bernie Spradling will head up our club’s upcoming Dream It, Be It! event. Dream It, Be It! is Soroptimist’s global program to offer career support for teen girls though education and access to role models. The event is planned for early April.
January donations collected were school supplies for local schools. Hostesses were Janett Doile and Sharon Mangels. We adjourned with the Soroptimist Pledge.
